New AdGooroo Report Documents First Quarter Search Gains for Yahoo!
“Search Engine Advertising Update – Q109” shows a ten percent increase in active first page advertisers for Yahoo! and increased Ad Coverage from Google
CHICAGO–APRIL 13, 2009–AdGooroo (www.adgooroo.com), a leading provider of online marketing competitive intelligence and keyword tools, today released its latest quarterly Search Engine Advertiser Update. The new report documents several trends that emerged during the first quarter, including the annual arrival of larger search budgets from travel companies, the surprising addition of Bank of America and several used car resellers to AdGooroo’s ranking of Top 25 U.S. Advertisers by Search Engine, and a ten percent increase in active first page advertisers for Yahoo!.
“I would not be surprised to see good news from Yahoo! this month based on data included in this report, the sixth released by AdGooroo to date,” said AdGooroo Founder and Chief Gooroo Rich Stokes. “Like previous reports, this one includes charts and graphs that document important trends in search engine performance and presents data from the last 12 months, but unlike findings from previous reports, Google’s Ad Coverage diverged significantly from its estimated growth in active advertisers in Q109. We haven’t seen this in our analysis until now.”
Ad Coverage has proven to be a good directional indicator of search revenues for the top engines. This latest report, however, documents two divergent trends and states, “an increase in the number of ads coinciding with a decrease in the number of advertisers suggests an artificial change in ad coverage, perhaps in response to sluggish advertising activity.” The report goes on to note the differences between this dynamic and the organic growth that fueled revenues for Google in previous quarters.
The six-page report includes analysis; three pages of charts and graphs, each presenting 12 months of data; and three lists detailing the Top 25 U.S. Advertisers by Search Engine.
